Introducing our new Musical Director
A native of Hong Kong, Victor started learning the piano from an early age and only got into singing by signing up for the wrong afterschool activity in his teens! He was nevertheless hooked by the harmonies in the school choir and was recruited into the church choir soon after. Following these serendipitous events, he discovered a cappella music, and maintains a huge passion for the unaccompanied voice and vocal harmonies.
Victor started his conducting journey with a book brought from a concert hall gift shop: The Armchair Conductor and subsequently trained as a secondary school Music teacher, working in schools in the UK and Asia. He is a trained Kodály practitioner, leading workshops for music educators and coaching children and church choirs in Hong Kong and India. In addition to directing the Alcester Singers, he currently works for the National Schools Singing Programme as a Choral Director, directs a barbershop harmony chorus and competes with a barbershop quartet.
