Impressive Young Pianist Wins 2017 Prize

The 2017 Alcester Singers Young Musician competition took place in November at St Nicholas school in Alcester. Six entries competed for the trophy and £200 prize money. In a varied programme showcasing a range of musical styles three pianists, one French horn, a cellist and two vocal performances took place. Whilst the judging panel of three made their decision the audience were entertained by the 2015 winner Amy playing the violin.

The winner was soon announced as 17 year old Jude Wynter, who had impressed the judges with his performance of Nocturne in Dbmajor Op 27 No 2 by Chopin. Jude has completed all the graded piano exams as well as his ABRSM diploma and will be performing at the Alcester Singers summer concert on the evening of 14thJuly 2018 at Alcester Academy, it is well worth coming along to hear him play.

The 2018 competition will be take place in November, it is open to all under 18’s who live or attend school within 10 miles of Alcester and have reached the standard of Grade 5 or above in their instrument. For further information e-mail: moiramcullen@btinternet.com
