The  Christmas  concert  was  received  with  great  applause  and  appreciation.   Of  course  the  soloists  were  magnificent  as  usual.

However,  it  could  have  been  a  disaster  as  the alto  soloist  succumbed  to  the  dreaded  lurgy  two  days  before  the  concert  and  after  loads  of  phone-calls  to  try  and  replace  her,  Helen  (conductor)  came  valiantly to the rescue and  sang  her  part  in  the  Haydn,  while  the  wonderful  Katie  Leaver  (soprano)  sang one  of the  two  arias  in  the  Bach.

Unfortunately  the  other  aria  had  to  be  ommitted.    Helen did  a  wonderful  job  of  both  singing  and  then  whizzing  round  to  conduct  us.

Both  audience  and  choir  were  amazed  but  she  vowed  never  to  do  it  again !!
