A mixed voice choir based in Alcester in Warwickshire

We sing a variety of music during the year including choral works and a Christmas concert.

We are a friendly choir open to all and happy to welcome new members. We do not require auditions.

Singing is an uplifting activity and is hugely rewarding. Our weekly evening meetings in school term times to sing not only make people feel good and build friendships but produce satisfaction when the differing voices come together to produce a unified sound.

The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm in the Hall of the Catholic Church, Priory Road, Alcester, B49 5DY.

We are currently taking our summer break. Rehearsals resume on 5th September 2024 and all are welcome to come along to give singing with us a try.

About Us

Alcester singers is a mixed voice choir based in Alcester in Warwickshire.

The choir was formed in 1980 by Malcolm Brinson and several of the original founder members still sing with the choir.

We perform a variety of music based around two main concerts. Our Easter concert is usually a major choral work and the Christmas concert is seasonal with audience participation. In the summer we enjoying performing lighter pieces and hold an informal evening performance for family & friends.

We sponsor the annual Alcester Young Musician competition and the winner is invited to perform at one of our concerts.

Concerts

The choir is looking forward to the next concert on Saturday 14th December 2024 which will be held at St Nicholas Church, Alcester. The concert includes A Ceremony of Carols by Britten and the choir will be accompanied on the harp by Birmingham based harpist Emily Hopper. There will also be a selection of festive songs and carols, including the old favourites!

Tickets will be £10 and available a month prior to the concert from Humphries Shoes, High Street, Alcester (cash only), from choir members or contact us on alcestersingers@events.co.uk
